How do skill ratings work?

A skill rating is just a number that reflects how well you play, so the app can pair you with people around your level. It nudges up when you win against tougher opponents and settles as you play more games. You don't set it once and forget it — it keeps adjusting to your results.

How do skill ratings work?

Think of it as a running estimate of how well you play. After matches it moves a little — up when you beat someone stronger, down after a loss — and the more you play, the more it settles into the right range. Its whole job is to help match you with players near your level so games stay fun and close. Find players near you and it'll use your rating to suggest good matchups.

What rating do I start at?

You pick a starting level that sounds like you — beginner, intermediate, advanced, and so on — so you're not stranded far from your real ability. From there it adjusts as you log games. If you guessed a bit high or low, a few matches sort it out.

Will playing better players hurt my rating?

Not really, and that's the point. A close loss to someone clearly stronger barely moves your number, while a win against them moves it up more. So playing up is worth it — you get better games and you're not punished for challenging yourself. Find players near your level and mix in a tougher matchup now and then.

How do I find people at my level?

Let the app do it — it suggests players near you whose rating is close to yours, so you don't have to guess who'll be a good match. Find courts near you and browse players, then message someone who looks like a fair game. A free account is what unlocks messaging and setting up matches.
